Hello, just call me Julie :) I feel so blessed to be serving at Legacy College, one of over sixty church hubs across Canada in partnership with MCS-Horizon College and Seminary. It’s a fully accredited Bible college located right here at GT Burlington!Since 1987 I have served, alongside my husband Rev. Dr. Doug Tiessen, in various ministry capacities including a decade as missionaries in Russia where we helped establish Kuban Evangelical Christian University. We taught there in our first term, then served as Field Director couple for our multicultural team of forty missionaries. I went on to earn a Doctor of Ministry in Leadership Studies, hoping I could be of further use in God’s kingdom.Fast forward to 2022, when we found a new church family at Glad Tidings! We immediately felt at home, attending with our adult sons, Josh and Zac, who also love and serve the Lord.
After being out of professional ministry for many years due to contracting Chronic Lyme Disease in Russia, Doug and I were thrilled to be invited onto a committee planning for the establishment of Legacy College, which launched in September 2024. I never expected it would turn into a staff position at GT, but here we are!I, along with the capable assistance of my retired husband, am privileged to equip the Church with leaders who are ‘studying to show themselves approved, rightly handling the word of God’ (2 Tim. 2:15).
